Today’s Practice: Emotional Block Awareness (15 Minutes)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Find a quiet space where you can tune inward without distractions.
- Take several deep breaths, placing one hand on your heart. With each exhale, imagine your awareness deepening within your body.
- Body scan for emotional blocks:
- Close your eyes and slowly scan your body from head to toe
- Notice areas that feel tense, heavy, constricted, or uncomfortable
- Pay particular attention to your chest, throat, stomach, and lower body
- When you find an area that feels blocked, simply observe it without trying to change it
- For one area that feels blocked, gently explore:
- What emotion might be stored here? (Fear, anger, shame, sadness, etc.)
- When have I felt this sensation before?
- What might this block be protecting me from?
- Begin gentle energy movement with breath:
- Focus your awareness on the blocked area
- Breathe deeply into this area, imagining your breath traveling directly to this spot
- On the exhale, visualize the breath carrying some of the stuck energy out of your body
- Continue for 5-7 breaths, allowing the sensations to shift and change
- Notice if the quality of the sensation changes – perhaps becoming lighter, softer, or beginning to move
- Practice acceptance of whatever you discover, remembering your observer perspective from Week 1. You’re not trying to force anything away—just bringing awareness and allowing initial movement.
