Today’s Practice: Inner Child Connection (15 Minutes)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths to center yourself.
- When you feel ready, imagine yourself walking down a path that leads to a beautiful, safe garden. This is a special place where you’ll meet your inner child.
- As you enter the garden, look around until you see a younger version of yourself—this could be you at a specific age that comes to mind, or simply a younger version of you. Notice:
- What age does this child appear to be?
- What is their expression and posture?
- What might they be feeling?
- Approach your inner child with gentleness and compassion. Sit nearby, creating a sense of safety and presence.
- Begin a gentle dialogue with your inner child:
- Introduce yourself as their adult self who’s here to listen and support
- Ask them what they need from you
- Listen with your heart, not just your mind
- You might ask: “What would help you feel safe and loved?”
- If your inner child expresses a need or emotion, respond with validation and compassion:
- “I understand why you feel that way.”
- “Those feelings make perfect sense given what happened.”
- “I’m here now, and I won’t leave you alone with these feelings.”
- Before ending the visualization, make a specific promise to your inner child that you can keep, such as:
- “I’ll check in with you again tomorrow.”
- “I’ll pause and listen when you need me.”
- “I’ll honor your need for [whatever they expressed].”
- Gently close the visualization by thanking your inner child, assuring them you’ll return, and slowly bringing your awareness back to the present moment.
