Today’s Practice: Grounding Connection (15 Minutes)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Find a natural space where you can make direct contact with the Earth:
- A grassy area in a park or yard
- A sandy beach
- A dirt path
- Even a concrete patio that’s directly on the ground (though natural surfaces are ideal)
- Remove your shoes and socks to allow direct skin contact with the Earth’s surface.
- Begin with presence before moving:
- Stand or sit with your bare feet or body touching the ground
- Take several deep breaths, feeling the connection between your body and the Earth
- Notice the temperature, texture, and sensations where your skin meets the Earth
- Expand your awareness:
- Feel the support of the ground beneath you
- Imagine roots extending from your feet into the Earth
- Visualize the Earth’s energy flowing up through these roots into your body
- If weather permits, try different forms of grounding:
- Walking slowly and mindfully on grass or sand
- Sitting with your hands placed on the ground
- Lying down with as much of your body in contact with the Earth as comfortable
- Close your practice with gratitude:
- Thank the Earth for its support and nourishment
- Thank your body for its ability to receive this natural energy
- Set an intention to maintain this connection in some form daily
